Silk

Silk is Hornet's source of energy in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and is similar to SOUL which the Knight uses in Hollow Knight.

In-game Silk is represented on the HUD by a bar with several notches.

Usage/Abilities

Silk can be used to Bind, quickly healing one Mask of damage for each set of 4 notches of Silk.

Grapple Hornet can use 2 notches of Silk to grapple onto a piece of the environment, traveling to that location. This ability can also be used on an enemy, damaging them as well. Hitting an enemy with this ability restores 2 notches of Silk.

Hornet's taunt / Battle stance.

Gossamer Storm Hornet can use 5 notches of Silk to use Gossamer Storm, an attack that damages all enemies in an area of effect centered on Hornet. This is similar to the effect of the Thorns of Agony Charm in Hollow Knight. This attack restores Silk as usual.

Silk Spear Hornet can use 5 notches of Silk to attach a string to her Needle, throwing it and pulling it back quickly. No silk is restored when hit.

Battle Stance Hornet can also perform a taunt, similar to what she does at the start of her boss battles in Hollow Knight. This causes a Silk thread to appear around her but does not use any Silk.

Attacking Enemies

Enemies struck with the Needle cause Hornet to gain Silk at a rate of 2 notches per hit.

Hornet can find Spindles of Silk across all of Pharloom. They grant her Silk each time they are struck until they run out, similar to Hollow Knight's Soul Totems.

Capacity

Hornet starts out with several notches of Silk. The maximum number of notches is 15.

Grapple: Hornet will charge up for half a second, then throw her needle in aggressive fashion. it will make a thread visible and make hornet fly in the direction of the thread, following the needle. you can do this multiple times until you run out of silk. can keep grappling if there is a multiple amount of enemies.

Gossamer Storm: Hornet, while airborne, with summon 3 threads made out of silk lash out around her. 6-8 hits.

Silk Spear: Hornet will throw her spear and pull it back in quick succession. makes a shockwave, hits multiple enemies.

Battle Stance: Hornet will do her classic battle stance, making a scribbly thread around her, as she slightly bends down, and head forward, like she's about to pounce.
