Kingsoul is a Charm in Hollow Knight. It generates 4 SOUL every 2 seconds. It also opens an area at the bottom of the Abyss where it can be turned into Void Heart.

Usefulness

Kingsoul is a fairly useful Charm for exploration and platforming challenges, being superior to Hiveblood in that it can recharge SOUL for healing even with full HP. However, the high Notch cost prevents other useful Charm combinations from being equipped.

Because Kingsoul allows gaining SOUL without having to hit enemies with the Nail, it can be effective for those who are both patient and prefer to cast Spells. This approach is especially useful when delivering the Delicate Flower, as engaging enemies directly can be risky.

This Charm is primarily only equipped to unlock the Birthplace at the bottom of the Abyss, after which it is permanently replaced by Void Heart.

How to Acquire

Kingsoul is obtained after getting both White Fragments. The left half of Kingsoul is given by the White Lady in the Queen's Gardens, the right half is taken off the body of the Pale King after completing the White Palace.

After getting both halves, the Kingsoul is automatically created and replaces the slot where the half of the Kingsoul previously resided.

Balances with the Charm's drain of SOUL meaning that there will always be SOUL available to create hatchlings.

Trivia

  • From the locations where the halves can be acquired, it can be inferred that the higher beings mentioned in its description are the White Lady and the Pale King.
  • Kingsoul is the only Charm that takes up five Notches. This means it is also the most costly Charm.
  • Both halves of the Kingsoul are required before it counts toward the Charm count for Salubra's shop and Completion percentage.
  • Kingsoul is inaccessible in Godmaster Icon.png Godseeker Mode.
