Abyss Shriek is a Spell in Hollow Knight. It is the upgrade to Howling Wraiths. Using it releases a blast of SOUL and Shadow above and around the Knight.
Function
Press FOCUS/CAST or QUICK CAST while holding UP to release a wave of energy in an arc with increased range around and above the Knight, dealing 4 bursts in quick succession.
It is 16 times stronger than an Old Nail, making it the second strongest unmodified attack in the game, with the only other contender being the combined seven strikes of the Cyclone Slash Nail Art with the Channelled, Coiled, and Pure Nails.
Modifiers
- Shaman Stone increases the damage dealt by Abyss Shriek by 50%.
- Spell Twister lowers the SOUL cost to cast Abyss Shriek to 24 SOUL.

Stand on the pedestal in the room in the southwest part of the Abyss and use the Howling Wraiths Spell.

- Using the Dream Nail on the face by the pedestal reveals a line of dialogue hinting at how to obtain the Abyss Shriek:
- "...Our voices... will cry out... again..."
- Abyss Shriek, as well as Howling Wraiths, can destroy both Dung Defender's and
White Defender's dung balls.
